Placid Bay Estates Birds

Bird Sanctuary

In the 1960's, several towns in Westmoreland County, including Placid Bay Estates, were designated as a "Bird Sanctuary". Period newspapers stated that these designations made it illegal to shoot or otherwise harm birds other than swallows or starlings within the town.

The author of this website has been unable to locate any current law supporting this protection.
