Road Maintenance in Placid Bay Estates

Maintenance and Improvement

The State of Virginia and Westmoreland County are fully responsible for all maintenance, repair, and improvement of roads in Placid Bay Estates.

Paved roads are maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

Gravel roads are maintained by the "Placid Bay Sanitary District", which is managed by County Administrator and overseen by the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors using funds from the special road tax paid by Placid Bay Estates residents.

Snow Plowing

Within Placid Bay Estates, state-managed paved roads are plowed by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

County-managed gravel roads are plowed by the County only when snowfall exceeds 8", as to not damage the surface.
