Eastern Lakes of Placid Bay Estates
Guidance for using neighborhood lakes
Lakes are available to use by Placid Bay
Estates residents and their guests for fishing, swimming, and boating.
Swim at your
own risk. No diving. No gas-powered boats.
It is our understanding that residents who are property owners do not need a fishing license to fish on the community lakes.
Placid Lake and T-Dock
Placid Lake is the largest spring-fed lake in the Placid Bay Estates community. It is a great place to fish, boat, and swim.
The lake is home to the 1,600-square-foot T-Dock, which was built in 1960 and rebuilt as Jake Clark and Grey Scobey's BSA Eagle Project in 2018. The T-Dock features two swimming ladders, a kayak launch, and plenty of surface area for sunbathing or fishing. The depth at the intersection of the T-Dock is 9.5 feet, so diving is not recommended.
The ecosystem of Placid Lake is healthy and swimming in it is invigorating. We highly recommend that children wear a Coast Guard-approved life preserver when playing on or near the T-Dock. There is a dirt boat ramp for small electric or unpowered boats. Parking and entrance for the T-Dock are on Mattox Drive.
Turtle Lake
The northern portion of Placid Lake between Short Way Dam and Lake View Dam is locally referred to as "Turtle Lake." On a cool sunny day, you will see many turtles sunbathing on the logs.
